A festive atmosphere at IFO and QUBUS

There are only a few days left of 2021. Every year at this time of year, we embrace our traditions: the large Christmas tree adorns our foyer, and our hard-working trainee distributes presents to the QUBUS and IFO staff on behalf of the management. As part of a virtual Christmas party, there was mulled wine, biscuits and festive music.

So all that remains to be said is: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022.

We would like to thank you – our customers, partners and prospective clients – for the trust you have placed in us and for our successful collaboration, and we wish you and your family all the best for the coming year!

Ensuring paintwork quality through independent bodies

To avoid the inconvenience of a complaint, it makes sense – given the size of the order and the associated business risk – to establish a quality assurance system that runs alongside production. Depending on the sector and market, various forms of quality assurance carried out by independent bodies have developed. The IFO Institute for Surface Technology is available as an independent testing and inspection body offering an impartial perspective, and also provides support in the form of testing prior to the actual coating work.

The IFO Institute for Surface Technology in Schwäbisch Gmünd has expanded its premises in Hangzhou, China, and opened a new laboratory there covering an area of 1,000 m². Quality assurance_DIN EN ISO 12944

How users of liquid paints can ensure that their coating process meets the safety requirements set out in DIN EN ISO 12944.

How long will the corrosion protection last on my painted steel structure, painted machine component or, for example, in rail vehicle construction? Seven years or more than twenty years? This is an important question for building owners and investors. To ensure this is not left purely to chance, it is good that there are regulations in place to establish standards and define procedures. Coating contractors who use liquid paints can now obtain certification to EN ISO 12944 and demonstrate compliance with the relevant standards.

Planning painting processes correctly

It is the wide range of possibilities that presents major challenges for in-house coating operators – who are predominantly focused on mechanical engineering – when planning and implementing new coating processes. Coating process planning therefore begins with both in-house and customer product and manufacturing specifications. Existing specifications must be reviewed and checked. Generally speaking, customer specifications are similar within their respective application areas, although there are still differences.
