Experts with insight
Publicly appointed and sworn experts are highly sought-after specialists whose expertise is in demand – by private individuals, businesses and the courts. In Germany, there are around 9,000 experts who have been publicly appointed and sworn in by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. One such expert is Marc Holz, Managing Director of the IFO Institute for Surface Technology, who has been working as an expert since 2002 and, since 2015, as a publicly appointed and sworn expert in "corrosion and surface protection through coatings, particularly for metals, fibre-reinforced composites and plastics". "No distance too far, no height too high," is how Marc Holz describes his scope of work, for example in the field of façade technology. There is hardly a high-rise façade in Frankfurt that he has not accessed.

Outdoor weathering test with a view!
An outdoor weathering test can look this idyllic: on an IFO test rig (see left of the picture) on the island of Sylt, the corrosion resistance of various samples is tested in a stunning setting. Long-term weathering exposure subjects workpieces to complex weather conditions that closely resemble real-world conditions, thereby providing realistic results regarding corrosion protection and enabling the most accurate possible assessments of service life and quality.

IFO at the Metro Marathon in Düsseldorf
Initiated by the GSB, the international quality association for surface finishing in architecture and industry, the IFO supported the relay team at the Metromarathon in Düsseldorf. Andreas Nowak, IFO inspector, and IFO Managing Director Marc Holz took part on 29 April 2018 alongside the team from the GSB and the GDA (General Association of the Aluminium Industry). The 42 km course was completed in light rain.

A large number of visitors and fruitful discussions at PaintExpo 2018
With a newly designed joint stand, QUBUS and IFO showcased the wide range of services and solutions that their combined network offers to customers in the industrial coating sector at PaintExpo, the world’s leading trade fair, from 17 to 20 April. There were plenty of opportunities for insightful and very pleasant discussions with trade visitors from both Germany and abroad. As well as numerous technical queries directed at our experts, there was particular interest in information regarding the IFO quality label and the IFO seminars on the DIN Certco Coating Inspector qualification, as well as other training courses offered by the IFO Academy. Many thanks for visiting our stand and for the fruitful discussions.
